Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, located just 10 kilometers north of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is a renowned facility dedicated to the conservation, breeding, and research of giant pandas. Established in 1987, the base initially began with six sick pandas rescued from the wild and has since grown into the largest giant panda research center in the world, now home to over 200 giant pandas
The base is not just a research institution but also an ecological park designed to simulate the natural habitat of giant pandas, making it a unique destination for visitors. Here, you can observe pandas of all ages, from playful cubs in the Sunshine and Moonlight Nursery Houses to adult pandas lounging in their spacious enclosures. The base also features areas dedicated to red pandas, swans, and various other species.
Visitors can explore several key attractions, including the Giant Panda Museum, which offers insights into the biology, breeding, and conservation efforts surrounding these beloved animals. The base's natural landscape, complete with lush bamboo groves and serene lakes, provides a tranquil environment for both the pandas and the visitors
